چکیده
Injectable Microgels Inspired by the phenomenon where islands could recruit seabirds for nesting, in article number 2105084, Xiaoji Luo, Wenguo Cui, Wei Huang, and co-workers present an injectable porous microgel generated via microfluidic technology that is non-covalently loaded with PDGF-BB TGF-?3, forming “cell island” microgels can serve as a temporary “nest site” to endogenous stem cells presents promising therapeutic effect osteoarthritic cartilage damage.

Metamaterials: Snapping Mechanical Metamaterials under Tension (Adv. Mater. 39/2015).
By exploiting snap-through instabilities, D. Pasini and co-workers design a damage-tolerant mechanical metamaterial that snaps sequentially under tension, thereby accommodating a very large deformation up to 150%. On page 5931, they describe how the nonlinear mechanical response of the metamaterial can be robustly programmed by tuning the architecture of its unit cell.

Stroke survivors are typically left with structural brain damage and associated functional impairment in the chronic phase of injury, for which few therapeutic options exist. We reported previously that transplantation of human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived neural stem cells together with Matrigel scaffolding into the brains of rats after focal ischemia reduced infarct volume and improved ...
متن کاملNanoelectrodes: Large-Scale Nanoelectrode Arrays to Monitor the Dopaminergic Differentiation of Human Neural Stem Cells (Adv. Mater. 41/2015).
A large-scale homogeneous nanocup-electrode array (LHONA) capable of noninvasive real-time monitoring of dopamine generation from human neural-stem-cell-derived midbrain neurons is described by J.-W. Choi, K.-B. Lee, and co-workers on page 6356. LHONA, fabricated through sequential laser interference lithography (LIL), is a conductive cell-culture platform that is extremely important for electr...
متن کاملMicrofluidics-Assisted Fabrication of Gelatin-Silica Core–Shell Microgels for Injectable Tissue Constructs
Microfabrication technology provides a highly versatile platform for engineering hydrogels used in biomedical applications with high-resolution control and injectability. Herein, we present a strategy of microfluidics-assisted fabrication photo-cross-linkable gelatin microgels, coupled with providing protective silica hydrogel layer on the microgel surface to ultimately generate gelatin-silica ...
